Clear plastic for clear visibility to the bobbin so you can see how much thread you have left before it runs out. It clips or slides into place and covers the bobbin to prevent it from jumping out. Without this Bobbin cover plate the machine will not stitch correctly. Janome makes many different slide plates for different models, this fits all the models below.
