Janome Hemmer Feet Set (4mm & 6mm)

The Hemmer Foot, sometimes referred to as the rolled hemmer, is used to stitch the narrow rolled hems usually found on shirt tails, table linens, and along the edges of frills. The hemmer is designed with a scroll-shaped feed on top and a straight groove on the underside which determines the width of the finished hem. The 4 mm / 6 mm set will allow for the use of heavier fabrics.

Feed your fabric through the small funnel located on the front of the foot. The funnel turns the fabric under while the needle stitches it down to create a perfect narrow hem. This is a unique set of feet perfect for the aesthetic finishing of blouses, skirts, dresses, curtains, tablecloths, table runners, etc. There is no better accessory to get an even, effective and very professional-looking roll. The presser feet are designed for sewing thin and medium-thick fabrics. When using a narrower foot, the hem width after stitching will be 4 mm, and with a wider foot it will be 6 mm. The set is intended for machines with a rotary hook.

Assembly and fitting

Placing the foot and its replacement is very easy due to the fact that it is adapted to the Matic quick assembly system. Therefore, mounting each foot should not take more than a few seconds. The spiral guides, like the entire feet, are made of metal. Both feet are very durable and solid, so we do not have to worry about the spiral deforming and problems with curling up.

This set will fit on Janome machines in Category B, C-1 & C-2: Top loading machines (7mm max stitch width - low/high shank)

The 6mm foot can also be used on Janome machines in Category D-1 & D-2: Top loading machines (9mm max stitch width - low/high shank)

How do I use the Janome Hemmer Foot Set:

Stitch: Straight stitch (Center needle position)

Thread tension: “Auto” or 3 – 5

Stitch length: 1 – 2.5

Stitch width: 0

Method:

• Place the fabric, aligning the hem edge with the guide on the foot.
• Lower the foot and sew several stitches while pulling both threads to the back.
• Stop the machine with the needle in the fabric and raise the presser foot.
• Insert the folded portion of the fabric into the curl of the foot.
• Lower the foot and sew while lifting up the fabric edge to keep it feeding smoothly and evenly.
